Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony

Volunteer App Ceremony

On Friday, December 17, 2016, we held our annual volunteer appreciation and awards ceremony. This year we gave the following number of service awards for lifetime service hours:

  • 18 volunteers reached 100+ hours of service
  • 13 volunteers reached 200+ hours of service
  • Brian Calhoun and Amy Stearns exceeded 500 hours
  • Lillian Dutra and Mike Oliver exceeded 1500 hours
  • Josie Clark exceeded 2000 hours – she actually has given 5,250 hours since 2013!!

The volunteers were recognized at the ceremony, thanked, and given a certificate of hours completed. We also asked CCSPCA staff to nominate outstanding volunteers. We also asked the staff who work with our volunteers to share a few comments and/or stories about our dedicated volunteers. The volunteers were recognized at the event and comments were read out loud. They loved the recognition and the words of praise! Here are just a few of the wonderful comments shared by our staff.

Bryan Johnson – “Bryan will do anything we ask of him.” “He has a smile for everyone and a hug for those who need it.” “He is constantly busy and looks for things to do without us asking.” “He’s the BEST!”

Mike Oliver – “What can I say about Mike except that he is, hands down, THE BEST!” “Mike works wonders with the difficult animals.” “He is professional, caring, energetic and consistent with the dogs.” “GO MIKE!”

Fateh Sidhu – “Fateh uses any extra time he has in his day to come walk the big dogs.” “He comes between classes, after the gym and between work hours; for a few minutes or a few hours, he makes it work.” “He clearly cares about the dogs and he shows it constantly.” “Fateh conceived our current dog walking program and because of him many more dog walking hours happen each week!”

Teamwork Award – Bao Her & Breeanne Miller. “Bao is our only deaf volunteer and when we asked our volunteer staff for help finding a signer to assist Bao in getting trained, Breeanne jumped right in. Breeanne has been studying sign language and welcomed the chance to use it to help both Bao and the shelter. Since they first connected in September, they have logged more than 60 hours working side by side at the shelter and become good friends as well. Together they make a wonderful addition to our volunteer team.”

Elizabeth Yanes and Victor Gonzales – “Outstanding Youth Volunteers in the Stray Building who do the dirty work of cleaning and washing dishes and anything else we ask.” “We appreciate all that they do.”

We are forever thankful of our dedicated volunteers. If you’d like to become part of our valued volunteer team, please contact our Volunteer Services Manager, Linda Stolling, at volunteer@ccspca.com or by visit our website, ccspca.com and click on “Get Involved.”
