Fresno Man Arrested After Dog Mauling Incident

On November 18, 2014, Mr. William Weir was arrested by the Fresno Police Department after he had posted a video that he had taken of his dogs attacking a smaller dog that had allegedly wandered into his yard.   In the video, Mr. Weir could be heard making encouraging statements to his dogs for their behavior. He was also heard making comments referring to the fates of any other dogs that may venture into his yard.

The video has traveled to many areas around the nation and further, and the Central California SPCA has been contacted by numerous concerned citizens regarding this situation.

The dogs have been impounded by the Fresno Police Department and are currently in our care at our animal care center.

Mr Weir has been charged by the Fresno Police Department for felony animal abuse.  Bail was posted and he has been released from jail.

His fate and the fate of his dogs are in the hands of the justice system at this time.

We would like to thank the public for their concern in this matter and we will await the courts decisions in this case along with you.
