Paying It Forward this Holiday Season

Ms Fuller with Buster

While at our Black Friday kickoff event in River Park, we had a young lady come up to one of our adoption agents and ask to pay for an adoption. However, she didn’t have a dog or cat in her arms. She said “I can’t adopt a pet, but would like to pay for the adoption for the animal that’s been in your care the longest.” Our adoption agents said that Buster, a black Short Coat Chihuahua, had been waiting for his forever home for 6 months! They brought Buster out so the young lady, Ms. Fuller, could meet the dog she had just paid for. Ms. Fuller said she hopes that someone would give Buster a good home. Unfortunately, Buster did not get adopted at our Black Friday Kickoff and returned to our animal center.

However, on Monday, November 28, a young gentlemen saw Buster being carried around by one of our adoption agents. He inquired about Buster and we told him that Buster had been here 6 months and he is free to adopt because a good samaritan has paid for his adoption fee. The gentlemen took Buster in his arms and said that he had been looking for a calm lap dog for his autistic aunt. Recently, his aunt had lost her companion dog and was missing the connection she had with her buddy. He said that Buster would be the perfect dog for her and would be well taken care of, spoiled with treats, and loved by his aunt. We are so thankful to both Ms. Fuller and Mr. Goodall for giving Buster a forever home this holiday season.
