Rules
1. Eligibilty. The Central California SPCA Logo Contest (“Contest”) is sponsored by the Central California Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Inc. (“CCSPCA”). Judges, employees, officers, directors, agents or representatives of CCSPCA, and the immediate family members of any such individuals are not eligible to enter or win.
2. Contest Period. The Contest begins October 1, 2011 and continues until 5:00pm PST March 31, 2012. In the event that submissions are insufficient in either quality or quantity by the deadline, CCSPCA reserves the right to extend the deadline until a time at which the organization is prepared to make a selection.
3. Logo Requirements.
a. The design must include the name “Central California SPCA.”
b. The logo can be text-based, graphic-based, or any combination of these and other visual formats. It must be easily recognizable and text should be easy to read. Judges will be looking for a design that “stands out from a crowd” of many local and national animal related organizations including veterinary clinics, boarding and grooming facilities, and other animal shelters and rescues.
c. The design must be the artist’s original creation and shall not contain any copyrighted material or images that have been previously published or are pending publication, including photographs, clip art or electronic graphic images.
d. The design is limited to four (4) colors maximum and must be able to be reproduced in black and white and full color (as applicable).
e. The design’s size must be adjustable from very small to large (e.g. use on the barrel of a pen to use on a roadside billboard). It must be possible to use the logo in the following manners: (i) on a screen (i.e. computer and TV); (ii) on banners and posters; (iii) on paper (i.e. newspaper print, letterhead, cards and advertisements; and (iv) on textiles (t-shirts) or various gadgets.
4. Submission of Entries. Participants may submit up to three (3) separate logo designs.
a. Entries may be submitted to CCSPCA by submitting your electronic file along with your name, mailing address, telephone number and email to logo@ccspca.com. All entries must be received by 5:00pm PST March 31, 2012.
b. Each work should be forwarded in a separate e-mail. CCSPCA will send you a receipt of your work by e-mail.
c. Each design should be prepared in a high resolution (300dpi) format. As high resolution files are often too big to send via e-mail, you are asked to submit a lower resolution copy (only gif and jpeg file formats will be accepted, 300 kb max). In the event of a winning design, we will request submission of your high-resolution images.
d. If you choose to mail or deliver an entry instead of or in addition to sending by email, your entry and media will not be returned.
e. All costs associated with making and submitting an entry are the contestant’s responsibility. CCSPCA will not reimburse or be responsible for any costs incurred in the making or submission of any entry. CCSPCA is not responsible for entries that: (i) are submitted in improper form; (ii) lack required contestant information; (iii) are late due to computer malfunction; or (iv) are lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, or illegal.
5. Awards. The designer of the winning entry will be awarded an IPAD 2 and bragging rights. The designer will also be credited with an article in the next NewsBulletin and other announcements highlighting the new logo.
Selections from the entries may also be displayed in an online exhibition, depending on finalization of media partnerships.
Selection of Winner. A panel of judges appointed by the CCSPCA Board of Directors will serve without compensation to judge the entries. The judges will evaluate each entry based upon the following criteria:
(a) creativity,
(b) artistic merit (quality of image, clarity and composition), and
(c) articulation of CCSPCA’s mission. One winner will be selected. Judging decisions are final and may not be appealed.
CCSPCA may alter, modify or revise the logo as it sees necessary to achieve its goals. CCSPCA may reproduce, distribute, publish, display, edit, modify, create derivative works and otherwise use the logo for any purpose in any form and on any media without further permission from, or notice or compensation from the submitting participant.
6. General Conditions.
a. As a condition of entry, each individual represents and warrants to CCSPCA:
(i) that the submission is wholly original and does not infringe upon or otherwise violate any right of any third-party (including without limitation copyright, trademark, trade names, or any other proprietary rights); (ii) that participants have all rights necessary to enter the submission in accordance with these Rules; and (iii) no party other than the participant has any right, title or interest in and to the submission or any part of the submission.
b. By submission of a logo design, each participant (i) assigns all right, title and interest, including all intellectual property rights (copyright and trademark), in and to the design to CCSPCA, and (ii) agrees that CCSPCA may publish and use the participant’s name announcing the winning logo and in any future advertising campaigns and/or marketing materials.
c. By submission of a logo design, each participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless CCSPCA and its employees, officers, directors, agents and representatives from any claim, liability, injury, damage or other loss arising out of or related to such individual’s participation in the contest, including without limitation any materials submitted and any failure on the part of the participant to comply with these Rules.
d. CCSPCA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the contest should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the contest. CCSPCA reserves the right to disqualify any contestant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the contest.
e. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void in whole or in part where prohibited by law.
