Dear Director,
We recently lost our dog Lizzie to old age and a brain tumor.
After deciding to have her cremated we called your facility, Julie
at the adoption center was kindness itself and I knew right away
that I needn't look further. When we arrived with the remains of
our beloved "Doggy-Daughter" every single member of your staff met
us with sincere sympathy, and treated Lizzie with tenderness and
dignity. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks for their
treatment of us and the kindness which made a very difficult time
just a little easier. I am sure that theirs' is an often thankless
and sometimes painful job, so the caring attitudes we found are that
much more impressive. Your entire staff of employees and volunteers
are to be highly commended. I will look no further than your
adoption center when the time comes to adopt a new companion.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Susan Dann

Dear CCSPCA, It all started with a phone call to find
out what I already knew. Minde` our 17 yr. old Shih Tszu/ Poodle mix
had become blind, deaf and wasn’t really doing well overall. The
compassion from the person on the other end of the phone let me know.
If I was calling to ask.....yes it was about time. We set the date
August 25,2005 and tried to prepare ourselves for the inevitable.
Minde’s time had come. It was time to have her put down.
As a
family we talked it over and everyone was on the same page. The boys
went off to school knowing that Minde` was gonna go to doggy heaven,
and wasn’t going to be around anymore to greet them afterschool. SO
Dad made the trek to 103 S. Hughes Ave. By himself. Talking to Minde`
all the way about how I’d see her in the future when I got to
heaven. She was truly a great dog and was going to be sorely missed. I
held my own until the door to the office closed behind us and the
staff members gave us some time alone for goodbyes. Upon their return
the procedure took place and Minde` was now in doggy heaven.
Through
tear stained eyes I had to find away to cheer myself up. But how was
that to be? I toured through the facility looking into the sad eyes of
so many rather large dogs wondering aloud would any of them find a
home?
Next
a tour of the puppy facility and who can’t be cheered up by the
smell of a puppy breath and a chipper bark and nips on the digits of
an outstretched loving hand. My tears dried and it was then that I
knew I’d be alright after my loss. Receiving a condolence card in
the mail from the CCSPCA also helped me understand the compassion
generated from people genuinely concerned with the health and welfare
of so many animals that they come in contact with.
Flash
forward to October 30,2005. Following an outing to the Cherry Auction,
my wife and two boys talked me into a visit to the SPCA “just to
look Daddy!” Once again the tour started pretty much as I previously
described. Large dogs, puppies and then the stray kennel. It was there
that we happened upon a mini-pinscher/terrier mix in a kennel
prevented from coming to the front on the pen by the larger dogs. She
raised a paw to my wife and kids as if to say “Hello.” I had seen
her already and continued to look over the rest of the strays ‘til I
heard my wife say “Honey over here!” I already knew which dog they
had their eyes on upon my return to they kennel they had froze at.
We
bonded immediately in the play yard. We prayed about it as a family
and knew that Minde` was smiling down upon us. A unanimous yes came
from each of us as we talked over our new acquisition. We signed the
papers, paid the fees. Set up the date for spaying her, and couldn’t
wait for her to come home so we could nurse her to health and have her
start her life “over” with us.
We
thank-you CCSPCA, for what you do! Many others have similar stories
I’m sure they’d love to share. I just had to put ours to paper and
share our feelings of our experience with your facility so others
might be encouraged to Adopt a stray, or a puppy, or even one of those
large sad- eyed Fellas (or gals) in the main kennel.
We
are also pleased with the Veterinary Hospital their staff and the way
things are run there as well!

Dear Stephen:
My heart is
breaking that I can’t come out there to pick up Barkley and bring
him home. I almost did
yesterday, then realized that could become a bigger problem for
Barkley later on. I pray
that he finds a home with people who will love and care for him.
I had many happy moments with him that live on in my memory.
I will pray for you daily as you continue to find homes for
unloved and unwanted animals. I
can hear the concern and sincerity in your voice. Donation enclosed

Dear Officer Williams:
My husband and I wanted
to thank you for all you did to take care of the dog problem we were
having out at Goodfellow & MacDonough.
We understand that you are stretched out like a rubberband with
all of the area you have to cover, so your persistence was especially
appreciated. It’s just a real shame that situations like this exist
at all.
Sincerely
Gil and Gail Awalt
Dear Norm:
Recently, I read your front page article about “Goldie” written by
Ann Husar. I found the
story very touching and heart breaking at the same time.
And then on Saturday I also read the article about the Blacks
neglect of their horses and dogs.
Our society should never accept nor condone such treatment of
animals. I feel that our
judiciary system needs to be very strict with humans that inflict pain
on any animal. We are
getting stricter laws about child abuse, we need stricter laws in
regard to animal cruelty.
About a month ago I was involved in the rescue of a horse that was
also being neglected to the point of starvation.
Thanks to the alacrity of Don Williams of your SPCA this proud
old steed has been rescued and will live the rest of his life being
cared for by the loving hands of a woman that I admire a great deal.
I wish to thank you for your wonderful organization and the kind and
loving people that are the soul of the SPCA.

Dear SPCA:
Keep up the great job you do to change the lives of our gentle friends
who can’t speak.
Thanks to Carol O’Brien & Dawn when I needed some help.
Thanks for being here to help Fresno Animals.
Enclosed is my yearly donation. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Officer Williams
and your assistant for taking on the grueling task of capturing the
vicious pit bull, that roamed our streets for weeks.
He was a killing machine for cats, chickens, rabbits.
I know these dogs are not born vicious, it’s the human that
makes these dogs kill. And
then they turn them loose as killer dog in the county to kill again.
Again, thank you Officer Williams and your assistant for
removing this Pit Bull dog roaming our neighborhood.
A job well done.
Thank you for all that you
do for our animal friends.
Thank you for your
devotion to the animals and your hard work all of you.
