KMJ'S RAY APPLETON SENDS ADOPTIONS SOARING
The first annual "Pet Adoption Weekend" included a 3-day live broadcast by Ray Appleton, the Central Valley's top-rated talk show host, and led to the adoption of of 79 cats and dogs plus a duck and a pig. Appleton also accepted the honor as this year's "Be Kind To Animal Week" chairman. Read details in the summer edition of the CC/SPCA NEWS, available free with your membership.

JUDGE CREED RESPONDS TO A "NO KILL" PLEA
In the summer 2002 CC/SPCA NEWS, CC/SPCA board president, the honorable Frank Creede, Jr., responds to a letter from a former Fresnan who suggests the CC/SPCA can become a so-called "no kill" shelter with sheer determination and will. Judge Creede points out the enormity of the society's services in Fresno County and its balanced and all-encompassing programs — and that societies that have converted to no-kill have had to abandon to local governments all stray and homeless animals that cannot be placed. GIB TURNS THE BIG NINE-OH
CC/SPCA Executive Director Emeritus Gib Rambo celebrated his 90th birthday with close friends on June 13th. As a birthday present, Harold & Betty Zinkin and family are donating $1000 per year for 9 years to the CC/SPCA.
