G. L. "Gib" and Ruthelaine Rambo were married in 1938, one year after both were graduated from Fresno State College. Both contributed a great deal toward the success of CC/SPCA as members and volunteers for many years. Gib served as Executive Director from 1961 through 2001, and was appointed as Executive Director Emeritus upon his retirement. The CC/SPCA's Education Center bears his name.

The Rambos' love for each other endured through the years. When Ruthelaine was diagnosed with Alzheimer's affliction, Gib Rambo wanted to honor her for her years of service to the CC/SPCA. He decided to erect a beautiful building in her name and donated $200,000 to the Society for its construction.

It was fitting that the Ruthelaine's Thrift Shop and Pet Supplies building was completed and dedicated in 1998, the 60th Anniversary of the Rambos' marriage. The building and adjacent mini-park are dedicated to Ruthelaine Rambo who, with her husband, has contributed so much to the CC/SPCA and its efforts to promote kindness to animals throughout the Central Valley.
