On February 26, 2013 at approximately 10:30 am, someone left a male black Labrador tied to a tree next to the CCSPCA Small Animal Hospital with a note stapled to its collar.
The note read that the owner was no longer able to take care of the animal due to the economy and that the dog was eight months old. The dog was placed on an abandonment investigation hold in an attempt to locate the owner; however an owner was not identified. The CCSPCA normally requires a $40.00 fee for a dog that is turned in. This helps pay for the costs of board and care at the shelter. Due to the fact a fee was not left, the shelter had to cover the costs for this unfortunate Lab.
It is sad that the owner chose to illegally abandon the dog, rather than bring him in and share all of his wonderful attributes with us, as he is a sweet and loving dog. Shelter staff took turns walking and playing with this very friendly Labrador. It turns out he loves to play fetch, loves to run, loves children, and loves all the attention he was receiving from everyone involved. He is very attentive, alert and very possibly a pure bred Labrador Retriever, however there is no real way for us to determine that.
The CCSPCA is currently looking for a good home for this lovable, playful dog, which has been nicknamed “Ranger” due to his obvious instinctive hunting skills.
If you are interested in adopting “Ranger” please contact the CCSPCA at (559) 233-7722. You can refer to animal # A19241544.
You can also contact Grace Appleton at grace@ccspca.com. With a little luck and your help, we look forward to finding Ranger a good and loving home.

Phantom (ID#18795549) is quite the performer with or without the cameras rolling! This little 4 month old Jack Russell Terrier blend won the hearts of our Shelter Medical Technicians that cared for his injuries he had after being rescued off of the streets. Phantom healed quickly and was a model patient. It wasn’t long before he could return to the stage he loves, performing for potential adopters! He even smiles for you when you find his special spot!!
Sunshine (ID#18729923) will make you smile! She is so cute and sweet that you cannot resist the widening smile that makes its way across your face when you meet and pet her. Sunshine is a tiny young adult Scottish/Carin Terrier blend. She is very affectionate and quiet while she waits for your full attention. Sunshine could be the light of your life, if you only let her!
McKinley, ID#18752790 – One of our caring Officers brought McKinley into our CCSPCA Animal Hospital for treatment after being hit by a Car on Mckinley Ave. After recuperating with our Hospital’s special TLC, McKinley was released to go up for adoption on Christmas Eve.

Tracy Vargas knew that to keep a happy cohesive household that she would have to do a meet and greet first before bringing home an new animal. That is why PetSmart is such a wonderful adoption location, because it allows for meet and greets to take place.
