A Call To Action

A Call To Action is what is needed to get things done, to turn on the light to other options, to make a difference. We are thrilled and grateful for the Shelter Pet Projects recent ad campaigns that are shining a much needed light on “Adopting”. You can see the great billboards that are here in Fresno that give a clear call to action and make you smile at the same time.

“A person is the best thing to happen to a shelter pet” so true and now visually there for everyone to absorb. Sharing things that make us feel good make others want to do the same and this will certainly help more animals into new homes.

We hope you see the commercials and the billboards and share them with friends and family. We hope that many of you will get to take that action and bring the joy of an animal into your life. We hope that you realize as we do that it is the human element to the homeless pet crisis that will be the solution.

Jeffrey and Colton

Posted on: November 3rd, 2011 by CCSPCA

Jeffrey and Colton

Here is the story of Jeffrey and Colton:

Jeffrey loves Australian Shepherds, and he found a Blue Merle mix puppy that he wanted to adopt on 10/6/2011. Before she was able to go home with him, she became ill. Jeffrey hospitalized her for a few days, but she eventually succumbed to the illness. Both Jeffrey and the medical staff who cared for her were devastated.

Dr Byrd personally claimed the task of finding Jeffrey a new Aussie pup to adopt. With patience, daily trips to every kennel in the shelter, and lots of photos sent to Jeffrey, an adorable male puppy was located. Jeffrey knew as soon as he saw the photo that this was the puppy he had been waiting for. He came to meet the pup within the hour and was adopted immediately.

Charlene in grooming gave him a bath, Surgery Annex neutered and microchipped him, and this photo is right when he headed home. Jeffrey liked the name “Colbie” for a female, so Surgery Annex named this male, “Colton”. Colton and Jeffrey are together today!

Special thanks to Armando in Strays for watching over Colton during his time there, and to Rachel Bender for originally noticing Colton as a fit for Jeffrey. Colton’s entire flow through the Animal Center is a testament to how well we can find homes for animals when we all work together!
