Here is the story of Jeffrey and Colton:
Jeffrey loves Australian Shepherds, and he found a Blue Merle mix puppy that he wanted to adopt on 10/6/2011. Before she was able to go home with him, she became ill. Jeffrey hospitalized her for a few days, but she eventually succumbed to the illness. Both Jeffrey and the medical staff who cared for her were devastated.
Dr Byrd personally claimed the task of finding Jeffrey a new Aussie pup to adopt. With patience, daily trips to every kennel in the shelter, and lots of photos sent to Jeffrey, an adorable male puppy was located. Jeffrey knew as soon as he saw the photo that this was the puppy he had been waiting for. He came to meet the pup within the hour and was adopted immediately.
Charlene in grooming gave him a bath, Surgery Annex neutered and microchipped him, and this photo is right when he headed home. Jeffrey liked the name “Colbie” for a female, so Surgery Annex named this male, “Colton”. Colton and Jeffrey are together today!
Special thanks to Armando in Strays for watching over Colton during his time there, and to Rachel Bender for originally noticing Colton as a fit for Jeffrey. Colton’s entire flow through the Animal Center is a testament to how well we can find homes for animals when we all work together!
