Volunteers
Information
|
 |
|
The following is a general list of the
different areas that we use volunteers in. We are growing and so
is our list.
|
Greeter:
You
would greet people in the main lobby. If they need help offer to show
them the shelter areas on the map, or guide them there directly. Make
sure you advise them about the different areas. Questions that you do
not know the answer too always ask for advise from the shelter staff.
Training is required for this position and we need greeters especially
on the weekends. You are a spokesperson for the shelter in this
position.
Puppy & Cattery:
You
would give animals’ fresh water and food, clean cages, wash laundry,
dishes, counters, walls, closets, and routine work as needed. Unfolding
newspapers is a help to all. We also need people to walk and socialize
the animals, to bathe them, to groom them. You may be rotating between
the
Available
Building
and the
Stray
Building
as needed.
Kennel Helper: You
would be feeding dogs, cleaning kennels, tapping the licks its,
sweeping, mopping, and other tasks as needed.
Surgery Annex:
You would be cleaning cages, washing laundry, sweeping, mopping, routine
work as needed.
Photographers:
You would be taking or assisting in the taking of pictures of our
adoptable animals to be posted on the website or other places. This
really helps more animals get adopted.
Education Department:
You would be helping with various tasks in the department. Depending on
what you like to do: computer work, filing, cleaning, feed, water and
clean animal cages. In the library you would re-shelve books, magazines.
You would help set up for tours, functions, and help decorate in the
Ed.
Building
. Set up
informational boards monthly.
Decorators:
You would help decorate our showcases, our different areas for
each holiday. Help make new boards and informational tools for outreach
and special events. Also help keep these areas clean.
Mobile Adoption Unit:
You would attend different adoption events and help in the process of
adoption. You would also help clean cages, feed and water, and bring out
animals to potential adopters.
Public Service/Outreach:
You would be handing out information to the public. Setting up and
tearing down booths, displays. You will need to go thru special training
so that you can correctly answer questions, if you do not know
the
answer or are unsure, you must ask a staff member. All of our phone
numbers are on the back of the bookmarkers that
can be handed out.
Special
Events:
You would be attending one of our Special Event
and
helping where ever needed. This
goes along with our Mobile Unit
or outreach most of the time. Events are held onsite and offsite.
Thrift
Shop: You would be sorting clothes, cleaning,
helping keep things
organized and routine work as needed.
Licensing
Department:
You would be helping with paperwork.
Pet

with our
animals from the CCSPCA. Orientation is required before participation,
and you can contact Cheri, who is the director of this program
@

You would have the responsibility of taking care
of an
animal, providing for it, until it would be able to come back to
the shelter to go up for adoption. For information and to apply
please
call
Sherry, the director of this program, @ 485-5335.
