Request of Charges Submitted to DA for Justice of 9 Neglected Dogs

On Friday, January 20, 2017, our Humane Investigation team submitted a request for charges to the District Attorney’s office for the neglect of nine dogs.

In early November, we received a call in regards to a residence that had nine dogs in violation of illegal dog tethering, extremely emaciated, and some were without water.

Our humane investigations team responded to the residence and found many of the dogs had poor body conditions. One dog, a grey and white Pit Bull, was in the worst condition. Nearly every single bone was visible on this dog’s body. He was tethered by a chain that was wrapped around his neck without a collar that had been there for quite some time. All the dogs were living in deplorable conditions surrounded by trash and feces. Most of them were also on illegal tethers.

Our humane officers seized all nine dogs and transported them to the Central California SPCA where they were assessed by our veterinarian and given immediate medical care. In the over two months they have been in our care, all the dogs are now at proper weights, happy, and healthy. They are currently available for adoption at our adoption center.
