Posted on: January 25th, 2012 by CCSPCA

Cash and Butter have a new family and will now be residing in Fresno. Unfortunately, their owner passed away and Barbara ( a family member ) came all the way from Salt Lake City and found Cheryl Cook who adopted these two gentle giants.

Horses for adoption

Posted on: January 14th, 2012 by CCSPCA

We are pleased to announce that two of our long term horses, after loving care, are now available for adoption to the proper qualified home. Each potential adopter must come in person and meet the requirements during the weekday hours of 8 am to 5 pm. The horses will only be adopted into qualified caring homes. Please notice the difference in the photos especially of the Sorrel that came in very depleted. He has gained over 200 pounds and has the health now to be able to be re-homed where his sweet disposition will be treasured.

Jeffrey and Colton

Jeffrey and Colton

Here is the story of Jeffrey and Colton:

Jeffrey loves Australian Shepherds, and he found a Blue Merle mix puppy that he wanted to adopt on 10/6/2011. Before she was able to go home with him, she became ill. Jeffrey hospitalized her for a few days, but she eventually succumbed to the illness. Both Jeffrey and the medical staff who cared for her were devastated.

Dr Byrd personally claimed the task of finding Jeffrey a new Aussie pup to adopt. With patience, daily trips to every kennel in the shelter, and lots of photos sent to Jeffrey, an adorable male puppy was located. Jeffrey knew as soon as he saw the photo that this was the puppy he had been waiting for. He came to meet the pup within the hour and was adopted immediately.

Charlene in grooming gave him a bath, Surgery Annex neutered and microchipped him, and this photo is right when he headed home. Jeffrey liked the name “Colbie” for a female, so Surgery Annex named this male, “Colton”. Colton and Jeffrey are together today!

Special thanks to Armando in Strays for watching over Colton during his time there, and to Rachel Bender for originally noticing Colton as a fit for Jeffrey. Colton’s entire flow through the Animal Center is a testament to how well we can find homes for animals when we all work together!

We’ll Miss Catalina

Posted on: June 24th, 2011 by CCSPCA

Catalina, our resident cat at the CCSPCA Small Animal Hospital, and loved by many, went to a better place on Tuesday afternoon.  Intestinal cancer ultimately caught up with her, although with a lot of TLC and medical care over a number of years, her life was good right up to the end.

She arrived here 15 years ago, a momma unable to deliver her kittens.  She was spayed, and became the resident cat.  One of her kittens, Tyson, was taken home by Dr. Yates, a former veterinarian here at the CCSPCA, and he would occasionally show up for medical care and to visit “Mom”.

Catalina could be found on any given day either sleeping in her daybed on the counter in the pharmacy, or sitting in the hallway monitoring the goings-on in the hospital.  She was notorious for sitting, and refusing to move, no matter the size or aggressiveness of the dog coming down the hallway.  She could be seen most lunch hours,  in front of the hospital on the sidewalk, or out on the grass taking in a little sun, which became part of her expected routine.  As a younger cat, she became a fan of glazed donuts which would occasionally be brought in to the hospital, and she would expect a piece, or nag the staff until someone weakened.

Catalina was a cherished member of our hospital and will be missed by the many staff and clients who came to know her over the years.
