Congratulations to Doreen Allen on her adoption of Wayward Storm!

Posted on: January 13th, 2014 by CCSPCA

Congratulations to Doreen Allen on her adoption of Wayward Storm, a beautiful bay thoroughbred gelding!

Our Humane Officers seized Wayward Storm and a number of other neglected horses in the Auberry area in early August 2013. Wayward Storm had suffered a very deep laceration to a hind leg due to becoming entangled in barb wire fencing. He has been under the great care of our skilled veterinarians, Dr. Swanson of All Creatures Veterinary Clinic, and our staff and was ready to find a loving forever home.

Happy trails to Wayward Storm & Doreen!

From The Big Fresno Fair, to Facebook, to The Fresno Bee, to the news, Fredrick has made an appearance anywhere he could. He’s a media star! Over the weekend Mr. Karvon came into the shelter asking for Fredrick. He said he had seen him online and was interested in meeting him. Not surprisingly, Fredrick was offsite at PetSmart. So Mr. Karvon decided to come back the following day to see if he was still available. Fortunately he was, and Mr. Karvon adopted Fredrick. Mr. Karvon comments, “When I saw Fredrick on the website with the pirate hat, I knew he had a matching sense of humor.”

Congratulations Fredrick and Mr. Karvon!

2 Kittens Found & Rescued

Posted on: June 24th, 2013 by CCSPCA

On the morning of June 19, 2013, the Central California SPCA received a call of a possible kitten in distress. The caller said that the kitten was stuck in a storm drain.  Upon arrival, Animal Control Officer Kristofer Shwetzer found a very scared and hungry gray and brown female kitten in a storm drain pipe six feet below the ground.  Unfortunately the kitten was too scared to come to the officer so he placed a safe trap in the storm drain with some cat food.

The next day, Officer Shwetzer was flagged down by a concerned citizen in another area of town. They informed him of yet another kitten caught in a storm drain.  Fortunately, the officer was able to access this storm drain and rescue the gray and white male kitten.  The kitten was obviously very happy to be rescued as it purred loudly.

That same day, Officer Shwetzer checked the first trap and found the female kitten safely inside.  Both kittens were taken to the CCSPCA and treated for minor dehydration.  They now need a forever home.  They are both very friendly and love to play.  If you are interested in adopting these lucky little kittens, contact the CCSPCA at (559) 233-7722.  Even better, come down and see her for yourself at the CCSPCA located at 103 S Hughes Avenue in Fresno.  You can refer to Animal ID# SC89552 and # SC89553.
