On January 10, 2018, we reported the outcome of a cruelty case that originated in 2016. Mark Grahmann pled guilty to PC 597(a) felony animal abuse charges. He was sentenced to 180 days in jail, three years of probation, required mental health counseling, and 10 years without any animal ownership rights.
In May of 2016, we originally received the call regarding this animal cruelty case. The reporting party stated he found videos that showed Grahmann had bound, suspended, and tortured his dog, Graham, on numerous different occasions. (Note: the dog belonged to the reporting party, not Grahmann.) Our Humane Officers collected the evidence and began an investigation case. A request for charges was submitted to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office in December 2016 and felony charges were brought against Grahmann in early 2017.
Immediately following his sentencing, he was handcuffed and placed in custody.
We are grateful for the ongoing support of the District Attorney’s office with animal cruelty cases. We also appreciate the support, professionalism, and helping hand spcaLA provided in this case, as they assisted with Mark Grahmann’s warrant and arrest.
