On December 10, we responded to a call from Fresno Fire Department requesting assistance with the rescue of a dog trapped in the canal on Hammond and Clark.
When Nick, one of our Animal Control Officers arrived on scene, the dog was still inside the canal. Nick saw the German shepherd in distress and says his “instincts kicked in” and he was able to quickly provide FPD with the help needed to save his life. With the help of a ladder and the yellow rope seen here, Nick and four FPD officials were able to successfully hoist the German shepherd from the bottom of the canal. Thank you Nick for your efforts in this rescue!
The dog is now safely in our care and he is being treated for a mild case of Kennel Cough. Once he recovers, he will be available for adoption! Stay tuned to our social media for updates on him and other adoptables in our care.
