WHAT:  CCSPCA to Participate in 2014 World Spay Day Campaign

WHEN:  Beginning February 25, 2014

WHERE: CCSPCA 103 S. Hughes Fresno CA 93706

WHY:  The CCSPCA will participate in the 2014 World Spay Day, an international campaign that promotes the life-saving benefits of spaying/neutering pets, by performing 50 free spay/neuter surgeries on cats and dogs.

Appointments will be accepted and spay/neuter vouchers will be given to the first 20 dog owners and 30 cat owners who appear in person at the CCSPCA Small Animal Hospital at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25.  Pets must be at least 4 months old and current on vaccines or over 6 months old without vaccines.  For additional questions, please call 559-237-1125.

Advantages to spaying/neutering pets:  Spaying and neutering pets is not only a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, but altering pets increases their chances to live longer and healthier.  There are medical and behavioral advantages to spaying/neutering pets.  According to the American Veterinarian Medical Association (AVMA), spaying or neutering pets can dramatically reduce or eliminate the risk of developing certain types of cancers in both males and females. Additionally, altered dogs and cats are less likely to mark their territory; wander and become lost; get hit by cars while searching for mates, and are less likely to bite or become aggressive.

About World Spay Day: Since World Spay Day’s inception in 1995, it is conservatively estimated that participating organizations have spayed or neutered nearly two million animals. This year, Tuesday, February 25 is designated as World Spay Day with spay/neuter events taking place throughout the entire month.

About CCSPCA:  Our vision is to lead our community in promoting the quality of life for animals.  Our mission is to provide protection, placement, and education to ensure responsible animal care.
