Blade
Blade, a 1 year old, unaltered male, solid black cat came to us as a stray without ID. He was found by one of our Animal Control Officers stuck in a car engine. He was then taken to our CCSPCA Small Animal Hospital. As you can see from the pictures below, It was a miracle that he made it out alive.
It took an extraordinary kitty to undergo such procedures. This kitty is one of the most loving kitties you’ve ever met. When we visit with him he will walk up our chest as if he wants to give you a huge hug. Not only is he a sweetheart, he seems to be incredibly thankful for the efforts of staff.
He has had two surgeries to close the huge gaping wounds and a tail amputation that has already added up to $200. We are asking for sponsors to help offset the costs of his surgeries and adoption. Blade is currently up for adoption and we are keeping our paws crossed until this guy gets the loving home he greatly deserves.
Many animals are severely injured, even killed, when crawling up into engine compartments to keep warm. The good news is, this injury in most cases can be easily avoided. The simple action of knocking on the hood and then the honk of the car horn is usually enough to get kitty out of the scram! Blade is very fortunate to have had a wonderful citizen bring him to us. Without immediate medical care, Blade would have no doubt succumbed to his injuries in a very short time.
Update 4/25/14: Blade has been adopted!
