If you’ve ever seen an animal cruelty case break the headlines on tv or in the news, you’ve probably wondered a thing or two about the amount of the cases CCSPCA handles on a yearly basis. We are fortunate enough to have two outstanding Humane Officers and a team of equally incredible Animal Control Officers who work tirelessly in responding to the 30,000 plus calls we receive on a yearly basis.
Last fiscal year we responded to:
- 47 reports of illegal tethering
- 126 complaints of dogs left unattended in vehicles
- 512 complaints of animal cruelty and/or neglect (abandonment, improper care, physical abuse, neglectful living conditions or care, etc)
By educating the public on responsible pet care, our humane/animal control officers were able to resolve the majority of complaints. In cases where the neglect or abuse has gone too far, or the owner/caretaker has failed to comply, animals are seized and criminal charges may be filed.
