Puppies and Parvo

Parvo virus

It’s that time of year when excitement happens over new puppies and we get a thrill from people choosing to do the right thing by adopting from their local Open Door Animal Center. This joy is overwhelming and wonderful! The flip side to the joy can be overwhelmingly crushing.

One of the heartbreaking parts of this season is that the weather change also brings the rise of the Parvo Virus in the Community and spreads very easily. We want to teach people all about Parvo, as that is the only way to combat it,  save more lives, and reduce the possible sadness at losing an animal to this frustrating disease. Please learn more, visit the Parvo Fact Sheet on this site and talk to your Veterinarian. Please don’t forget to vaccinate your animals and realize that Parvo can be found everywhere in the community… not just in animal centers, shelters and rescues. By sharing this information, you are helping our precious animals and reducing the heartbreak of lost lives.  This will help us get back to rejoicing over the precious puppies!
