It is an evening in mid-June. A man throws his dog out of his house, not wanting it anymore. A woman named Crystal, who is on a walk, notices what is happening and asks the man if she can have the dog. She takes the dog home and calls her mother, telling her what has happened.
The young woman’s mother, Martha, had become acquainted with an employee at the CCSPCA over the last couple of years. The employee was a dispatcher named Felicia. Even after Felicia moved on to another position at the CCSPCA, the two women remained friends.
The next morning, Martha sends Felicia a text, along with a picture of the dog asking if the CCSPCA would be able to find the dog a home. The CCSPCA was competing in the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100k Challenge and successfully adopting out all healthy and adoptable animals.
Unfortunately, the dog becomes ill. Crystal and Felicia discuss available options for the dog and after work, Felicia returns to Crystal’s apartment to hand over items that will help treat the sick dog.
In three days the dog improves. Now playful and vocal, Crystal is afraid of her neighbors complaining about the noise. She contacts Felicia and asks if she can take the dog in. Felicia’s home is already full of foster animals and she needs time to find homes for some of them.
On the evening of July 3, Crystal comes home from work to find that the dog has a limp on his back leg. Unsure of what happened and concerned about the injury, she again contacts Felicia. Felicia agrees to take the dog in and the next morning she picks him up.
Felicia takes Lucian to the CCSPCA’s Small Animal Hospital to be examined and the x-ray shows that Lucian has a broken leg that requires bone surgery. After discussions with the CCSPCA team, it is agreed to help Lucian, but our hospital is not staffed to perform this type of surgery. So Dr. Richard Kahn with All Creatures Veterinary Clinic is contacted and an appointment is set up for surgery.
Dr. Kahn successfully performed the surgery, screwing the broken bones together and when the time came the screws were removed. Lucian, with the help of caring people and the CCSPCA, is now a healthy and happy young pup.
Lucian has been neutered and microchipped and is now seeking a warm and loving forever home. Please like and share this post and help us find a home for Lucian.
