We were in it to win!  And we’re done and we did it!  The Central California SPCA led the nation three months in a row to win the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge and the grand prize of $100,000!

The CCSPCA staff and the community of Fresno pulled together in a way they’ve never done before and accomplished major, awe inspiring feats throughout the Challenge, breaking records every month on the number of adoptions, spays/neuters, and lives saved.  We saved a total of 2,640 animals’ lives during the months of June, July & August.

Here are some other staggering record breakers during the Challenge:

  • On August 31, 2014 we had 94 adoptions recorded. The most ever recorded in a single day.
  • The last week of August (25-31) recorded the most adoptions ever done in a single week…334 adoptions.
  • July saw 757 adoptions.
  • August saw 1087 adoptions.
  • Spay/Neuter Surgeries in one day – 77
  • Spay/Neuter Surgeries in one month – 969

It is truly an honor to have won the grand prize, plus an additional $15,000 in grant funds for leading the nation all 3 months.  These funds will be well spent reducing the adoption fees, which include spaying/neutering, during our Home for the Holidays’ month long event beginning on Black Friday, November 28, at River Park.

A huge thank you goes out to Cumulus Media and KMJNOW, our presenting sponsor, and all the publicity you gave us.  Another BIG thank you to River Park for allowing us the ability to have our mobile adoption unit full of adorable adoptables at your shopping center.

We also offer our heartfelt thanks to all of the major supporters of the 100K Challenge shown below.

We all know who the real winners of the 100K are, though – all the homeless pets who found loving homes and their families who found a new best friend.   Thank you, Community of Fresno, for your support as we couldn’t have done this without you!!!
