Happy Adoption Story – Ruckus

ruckusintakeRuckus came to us as a stray with an injury to his eye.  He was part of a stray cat colony.  One of the residents who fed the stray cats in her neighborhood noticed one had a litter of kittens in her backyard in a tire. The kittens and the mom were pretty much feral at that time.

Unfortunately, Ruckus ended up in a backyard with a dog who attacked him.  The reporting person’s husband jumped the fence with a stick and a board to save him from the dog’s mouth, with no regard for his own safety.

The couple immediately took the kitten to their vet and were told that his chances were slim to none and he would probably need to be humanely euthanized.  So the couple decided to bring the kitten to us.

Kim Yrigollen, our Rescue Coordinator, saw this kitten, and even though he had a bad injury, she knew he would come around.  She posted him on our Rescue Facebook page, asked for sponsors to cover the costs for the eye removal, and successfully collected the monies needed.

The surgery was performed and Ruckus made a quick recovery.  You wouldn’t have guessed that Ruckus was a feral cat because after surgery, he was the most playful, loving and affectionate kitten you’ve ever met.   Rukus is indeed a very lucky kitty as he found a forever home during our $100K Challenge!
