This year we have seen an explosion in the number of horses at the CCSPCA! Over the course of the last few months, we have seized 42 horses that were being kept in inhumane conditions and were severely starved. We have worked incredibly hard to get these horses back up to normal weight. We would certainly not have been able to do this without the help from our community which has provided horse corral fencing and many pounds of food.
That’s not all though, two of the horses came here pregnant! We’ve had two little bundles of joy in less than a month. The first horse, Rosie, came to us starved and pregnant. We got her body weight up and she had a healthy baby colt. We are in the process of determining the name through our Name The Baby Colt Contest and hope to announce it soon. Our other horse, Holly, delivered a little filly just this last week. Look for a naming contest for her as well!
We are also happy to report that as the horses get healthier, they are finding homes in the community again. Thumper and Rabbit came to us in one investigation and once at the CCSPCA received the treatment they needed and once again became healthy and happy horses! They are quite the couple and also made a new friend at the CCSPCA, Oliver, who got to go home with them. We hope that all the horses find a loving home with owners that will treat them properly and we look forward to many more happy endings!
