On Saturday, August 10, 2019, just before 11 PM, we received a call from a Fresno business regarding a dog trapped in a pit of tar. The overnight security guard stated he heard noises but did not see the dog until he was up close. Our Field Operations Manager and an Animal Control Officer were both immediately dispatched to the scene and found the young female dog submerged in a tar pit up to her neck.
After about an hour of careful maneuvering, they were able to wedge a board underneath the pup and hoist her out of the pit. She was immediately transported to 24/7 PetVets to get as much of the sticky, gooey tar off her body. After several hours she was then brought to CCSPCA where our caring team carefully continued to remove the excess tar. Following a copious amount of Dawn soap baths and a subtle shave, she was saved from her horrendous situation!
We named the little pup Tara (A42455630) and she found her forever home on August 23!
