What Are the Differences Between the CCSPCA and the ASPCA?

The Central California SPCA hears from people frequently that they support the ASPCA and assume that this financial support gets trickled down to the local level.

Folks seem to think that both agencies are associated with one another and that the Central California SPCA receives funding from the ASPCA. Nothing could be further from the truth. And, yes, we agree, this is all very confusing.

The truth is, SPCAs aren’t associated with one another.

Yes, they are all societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals, but that’s pretty much where the relationship ends.

There are SPCAs all across the country and around the world, but each is their own independent organization. That’s what we’ll be covering today. We want you to get to know the real us, so please take the time to learn a bit more about what makes the Central California SPCA so special.

How are the Central California SPCA and ASPCA similar?

  • Our core values are very similar. We want the best for the animals of our local communities and work tirelessly to help those in need.
  • Both the ASPCA and the Central California SPCA have been recognized as leaders in our respective areas and on a national level.
  • Both our organization and the ASPCA depend on the support of others to be able to perform the work we do every day.

How are the Central California SPCA and ASPCA different?

The ASPCA was the first SPCA in the country and has now become one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the world. While we’re pretty well established and have grown to a considerable size with the ability to help thousands of animals each year, we are much smaller.

What this means is, we don’t receive the same level of media attention, and as such, depend largely on the local support of people like yourself. We’re a hometown kind of operation, relying on our website and other social media outlets to spread the word of our mission. We’ve been able to grow to a size where we can help more animals than ever. It’s all thanks to people like YOU.

Fun Fact: The oldest SPCA in the world is the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (RSPCA) in England, founded in 1824.

  • While the ASPCA operates in areas beyond its New York headquarters, our emphasis is on the animals in our local and outlying communities, primarily focused within Fresno County. By supporting the Central California SPCA, you are helping animals here in YOUR own community, educating YOUR neighbors, and saving the pets next door to YOU, so to speak.

Thank YOU!

Thanks for taking the time to read this, for being a supporter of the Central California SPCA, for caring about the animals we share this planet with. None of what we do would be possible without you, so know that we appreciate your support.
