Humane Officers Inspect Circus Animals

Circus

Every year when the circus comes to town, our Humane Officers inspect the living and health conditions of the animals. This year Officers Ramirez and Trinidad toured the temporary living facilities. They were greeted by the lead veterinarian and her assistant and they walked them through all the stalls and areas where the circus animals would reside while in Fresno. Our Humane Officers examined all the animals on-site, which included, horses, llamas, kangaroos, and tigers. They checked all aspects of each animal; hooves, body condition score, food/water, temporary stalls, medical records, etc. They also inspected all tack and tools, such as saddles, whips, hoops, etcetera ensuring the materials were safe and humane with the use of animals. All the animals were in great condition and the temporary stalls were kept spotless. We were glad to see that the animals are well taken care of and that there was plenty of staff to attend to the animals.
